Before attempting any modifications to your car, I highly recommend reading the Watercooled Volkswagen FAQs. They are over ten years old, but contain a wealth of information that was compiled back in the days when A1 and A2 cars were prevelent. I also recommend reading Greg Raven's Watercooled Volkswagen Performance Handbook, which contains a wealth of information pertaining to A1 and A2 platform Volkswagens. The last time I checked, the book was current up to the A3 platform, and had a great deal of nostalgic value based on discussions of items that are no longer available (such as the Autotech supercharger kit, or the Lamda Power Module).
MY MODIFICATIONS:
Follow the links for installation instructions or general commentary. Most aftermarket parts come with at best a mediocre set of instructions. Installation instructions are intended for items that require more explanation than is supplied from the vendor.
